Kyle's quilt is finally done. It was so hard to quilt, and to be honest I was fantasizing about a better machine the entire time I was working on it. I did finally get it finished though, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
I pieced this top 8 years ago, shortly before my wedding day as a present for my husband. I didn't get it finished in time and then life got crazy so it sat in a box folded up with the back all this time.
When I found it and decided to spread it out and take a look at it I was actually pretty disappointed in it. My skills have developed so much in the last 8 years that I don't really like the piecing anymore and I REALLY don't like the fabric.
But for sentimental reasons I decided to go ahead and quilt it. I'm really glad I did. I think it is a good reminder of how much I have learned about quilting and how far my skills have come. I also think it is a good reminder that in 8 more years I will be an even better quilter than I am now. That's exciting to think about!
It really isn't my style but I did give it to my husband and if nothing else it will make a nice camping quilt. As a family of 5 I have definitely learned that having a lot of blankets is important.
